Fillings can fall out due to decay underneath, normal wear, or biting on something hard. The exposed cavity is vulnerable to bacteria and sensitivity.
A crown that has come off completely leaves the prepared tooth exposed. The tooth underneath is weaker and more sensitive without its protective cap.
A crown that wobbles or shifts when you chew but hasn’t fallen off yet. This usually means the cement has failed or there is decay underneath.
Part of the filling has cracked or chipped away. You may feel a rough edge with your tongue or notice increased sensitivity in the tooth.
Temporary crowns are designed with weaker cement so they can be removed easily. They fall off more frequently than permanent crowns, especially with sticky foods.
Crowns typically last 10-15 years. Over time, the cement weakens, the margins can develop decay, and the crown may need replacement.

My wisdom tooth chipped and gave me extreme pain on Friday night. I couldn't find a dental office willing to take me on Saturday. Sunday Morning I couldn't take the pain as it escalated to my jaw and though out other teeth. After searching on google I found this was the ONLY dental office that was open on a Sunday and takes walk-ins. The wait time was minimal and the young lady at the front desk was so understanding and helpful. The tech who took photos of my teeth was patient and Dr. Yanatan Zakinov was the best dentist I've ever met. He was straightforward, honest, and didn't try to talk about anything else but the problem I was having. He looked at my teeth and knew right away an extraction of my wisdom tooth had to be done. He was careful to make sure there was no pain and kept insisting that I let him know if I feel any pain. Within 20 minutes of seeing him, my tooth was extracted and my pain was gone. I 100% recommend going there and I'm looking forward to my future appointments with them.
Nicest people in the world and Dr Shande took care of me like aces!!

I received the best and most professional dental care I have ever received in my life and after I went home he kept asking me how I was and how I was feeling.

A good dental office. My dentist spent the time to explain my treatment and took the time to make sure I didn't feel any pain. Office is clean and staff are good.

Dr Z was great, extracted my tooth in about 5 minutes
The girl at the front was super nice and so were the assistants
The wait was longer but they were very busy
Would definitely recommend if you are having a painful emergency
Doctor Jacob and Mariana are very amazing Kind understanding and very, very patient workers. They talk to me through all the steps before evening, touching my mouth Reassured me everything is going to be fine even with my big fear of dentist
I was a walk in emergency appointment on a Sunday morning and ended up needing two teeth extracted. I also happen to have anxiety surrounding dental visits so I was unsure of what to expect (I was here from out of town). Dr. Jacob was very understanding and gentle with the procedure. He took time to discuss options with me and did not push for anything extra or unnecessary. If I lived locally I would have gladly continued on with them as my primary dental care providers.
Like other reviews I had a similar experience. I was in a lot of pain, in need of an extraction. Divine Dental got me in within an hour after I called. Dr. Alex broke things down simply and was kind; As well as his assistant. This will be my new dental office. Thanks to everyone who helped today, from the front desk to the x-ray tech. You all made a difficult time a little easier to manage.
I really appreciate the people that work at this Dental office. Everyone is professional and friendly. Dr Z is a real specialist, he did my Extraction and I didn't feel a thing, thank you

Questions about what to do when you lose a dental crown.
Keep the crown in a safe place and avoid eating on that side. If you still have the crown, bring it with you as it may be possible to recement it. Do not try to glue it yourself. Call Divine Smiles at 203-865-1480 for same-day care.
In many cases, yes. If the crown and underlying tooth are in good condition, we can recement it during your visit. If a new crown is needed, we place a temporary crown the same day. Call 203-865-1480 for an appointment.
Most dental insurance plans cover crown replacement, though there may be a waiting period depending on your plan. We accept Medicaid, HUSKY Health, and most major plans. Call 203-865-1480 to verify your coverage.
A lost crown should be treated promptly to protect the exposed tooth from decay, sensitivity, and further damage. While not always a medical emergency, it should be addressed within a day or two. Call Divine Smiles at 203-865-1480.
